About Us

Who We Are

UKCAP is a registered charity that works with and on behalf of anti poverty groups across the UK.

Our office is based in Liverpool and our founder members come from all four of the UK’s nations. Our Trustees live throughout the UK, and as a point of principle at least half of the Trustee Board are made up of individuals who are themselves living in poverty. These are called our Grassroots Members.

A large part of our remit is to coordinate and support the work of the national anti poverty networks to engage at regional and national levels through the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty, The Social Policy Task Force and our Capacity Building Programme.

UKCAP Board

The UKCAP Board is made up of eleven Trustees who represent the UK in the following proportions:

  • 4 trustees from England
  • 2 trustees from Wales
  • 2 trustees from Scotland
  • 2 trustees from Northern Ireland
  • plus a Chairperson in addition to the above representation

UKCAP Board members are elected by the 4 National Networks. Half the Members are paid workers and half the members are people who have direct experience of poverty.
